The Name of Allah “the All-Kind” (Al-Latīf)

Cheikh Soufi Mohammed al-Mounawer al-Madani

In the Name of God, the Infinitely Good, the All-Merciful.

May His prayer and blessings be upon the perfect man, and upon his kind Companions and Family.

May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah the Almighty be upon you (As-Salam alaykom wa Rahmatu Allah ta’ala wa barakatuh:

Dear Sisters, Dear Brothers,

Among the commendable good deeds in this period of crisis is the possibility of invoking, in abundance, the Name of Allah “the All-Kind” (Al-Latīf), in accordance with the divine recommendation quoted in the following verse :

Say: «Invoke God (Allah) or invoke the Infinitely-Good (ar-Rahman), whichever ye invoke, His are the names most Beautiful And [pray unto Him; yet] be not too loud in thy prayer nor speak it in too low a voice, but follow a way in-between;». (Surah 17, The Nocturnal Journey (“Al-Isra”), verse 110).

For this reason, I pray the faithful, the disciples and the friends of us to dedicate a moment, every day, to invoke in abundance the name of Allah “the All-Kind” (without limit of number).

One could make these invocations “Dikhr” by praying “Du’ā” so that Allah may lighten this “decree”, to preserve us and lift the distress for all humanity, the creation of Allah the Almighty, and the manifestation of His attributes and Majesty.

This dhikr is known in the Tariqua (brotherhood) as «Hizb Al-Latif».

It is thus recommended, for those who wish, to begin with the following verses :

1- Their sight overtaketh Him not, but He overtaketh their sight and He is the All-Pervading-All-Prevailing, the Infinitely Aware. (Surah 6, Cattle (Al An’am), verse – 103).

2- Surely, my Lord does what He wills kindly. Surely, He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.” (Surah 12, Joseph (Yusuf), verse 100).

3- Did you not see that Allah has sent down water from the sky, whereby the land becomes green? Surely, Allah is All-Kind, All-Aware. (Surah 22, The Pilgrimage (Al Hajj); verse 63).

4- (Luqmān went on saying to his son,) “My dear son, in fact, if there be anything to the measure of a grain of rye, and it be (hidden) in a rock or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Surely, Allah is All-Fine, All-Aware. (Surah 31, Luqman, verse 16).

5- And be mindful of Allah’s verses and the wisdom that is recited in your homes. Surely, Allah is All-Kind, All-Aware. (Sourate 33, Les factions (Al-Ahzab), verset 34).

6- Allah is kind to His servants. He gives provision to whom He wills, and He is the Strong, the Mighty. (Surah 42, Concertation (Al Shoura), verse 19).

7- Shall He not know, who created? And He is the All-kind, the All-aware. (Surah 67, Royalty (Al-Mulk), verse 14).

May Allah please and accept your good deeds and ours.

Visit the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

Visit the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

Visit of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

Visit of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

1. If you intend to visit the Prophet, on him blessings and salvation, you must complete the farewell tour around the Old Home (Kaaba). Drink then from Zamzam water, then head to the grave of the Elu, exclusively, and not to those of other Companions. Don’t associate anyone else with your intention to visit because all of them just follow him. It is the main purpose [of this visit]. Isn’t it the river of mercy offered to creatures? “We sent you only as a mercy for the universes“. [Al-Anbiyā’: 107].

2. Purify your intention and determination and direct yourself to the Master of the Umma (nation). What grace has Allah honored you! What a blessing that Allah has given you! This mission must be accomplished with the best behavior and veneration, while pronouncing prayers and blessings on him, with a heart purified of any blameworthy attribute, a pure body, having both ablutions: the large and the small. As for the purity of the clothes and body, it goes without saying. You must perfume and wear the best clothes: “The clothes of reverential fear are even better” (Al-A’rāf: 26), renewing repentance towards the Lord of the Lords. You must feel happy, satisfied with what the Generous King has granted you, honored to visit the Prophet,

3. On his way, the visitor must recite in abundance prayers and blessings on the Prophet, the blessings and the blessings of the Prophets and the blessings on the Prophet are honored. He has to make a takbīr (Allah the greatest) on every hill [crossed].

4. O visitor! When you return to the Prophet’s mausoleum. Stand in front of his blessed tomb, with a lot of quietness and submission, having in mind only its sacred presence, the Prophet on him blessings and salvation is alive in his grave, of a spiritual life. Stand in front of his blessed tomb, with a lot of quietness and submission, as if you were unrestrained in front of him, don’t get too close [out of respect]. You’ll start by greeting him. [Imam] Mālik said: “He [the visitor] must say: “on you peace, O Messenger of Allah, and His mercy and blessings“. Then he says: “May Allah pray on you, on your Brides, your Descendence and all your Family, as He prayed on Ibrāhīm, and on the Family of Ibrāhīm. May He bless you and bless your wives, your Descendence, your Family as he blessed Ibrāhim, his family in the universe, He is the Praise and the Glorious! You sent the Message, delivered the deposit; you loved Your Lord! You have made efforts in His path; You were sincere with his servants, while being patient, seeking God’s reward until death. May Allah pray upon you the best prayer, the most perfect, the most fragrant and the purest.

5. The visitor is asked to recite in abundance the invocations, to solicit the blessings and intercession of the master of creatures, who holds miracles.

6. He must implore Allah that He may give him a beautiful [the most beautiful] end, that of dying by pronouncing the word of faith and Islam, which is: “I attest that there are no deities outside Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, sent to all mankind. Include all Muslims in your invocations. Above all, do not forget us in the invocations of these perfumed gardens, during these precious moments. It is a place where invocations are fulfilled, where the intimate maintenance is delectable and tasty. And what a place! What a majesty!

The Supreme Name.

The Supreme Name.

The Supreme Name.

The Supreme Name.

1- [Cheikh Ahmad al-‘Alāwī] then taught me the Supreme name : Allah.

2- He authorized me to invoke it in a specific manner after taking me into a spiritual retreat (Khulwa). I invoked it in accordance with his indications by uttering, in length, the name of Allah while closing the eyes and having the two ablutions. I first imagined each of the letters on the leaflets of the atmosphere [as floating on the air] whilst magnifying it; [the Name of Allah], until it appeared written on the leaflet of all created existence.

3- [Cheikh Ahmad al-‘Alāwī], may Allah be pleased with him, then represented to me the sphere of the world, that is, anything other than Allah, the Throne and what it contains. He allowed me to invoke the Supreme Name with a strong will, a great determination until this sphere became, in my eyes, reduced to a single point. It became limited or rather erased, as would be a wave in a rough sea. The branch had resorbed in the root; the part returned to the All. ‘’Indeed It is to Allah that all things return’’.

4- However, Allah quickly opened the eyes of my heart. And my invocations were short-lived. I acquired the ‘’obvious opening’’ (fath mubīn) due to the blessings of my Master (al al-‘Alāwī) may Allah bless him. All my praise be to Allah.

Religion

Religion

1. Religion :

Religion is defined as the complete submission of the servant to his Lord in his “outside” and it is al-Islām (the Trustful Surrender); in his “interior”, and this is al-Imān (Faith); in his “secret”, and this is al-Ihsān (Excellence).

2. Presence :

To be continuously present with Allāh, is one of the obligations of religion and submission to Allah the Exalted be He, indeed whoever obeys Him with His members, observes His orders and does not transgress His prohibitions is the true Muslim. Whoever submits with his heart and finds peace in the faith in Allah and what the Prophet, peace be upon him, has transmitted is the true believer. The one who is present with his Adore is Muhsin (excellent) [1].

3. Waiver

To renounce the delights of the world below, to devote oneself to Allāh and to devote one’s life to one’s adoration without damaging it or injuring the rights of others, are laudable virtues.

4. Asceticism

The true asceticism is that of the heart and not that of the hand. The one who believes that the pleasure of licit goods is an ephemeral pleasure and renounces it to devote himself to eternal delight is a man of great dignity. The one who enjoys the benefits by thinking that it is a divine grace and thus conforming to the verse: “Eat what God has granted you of lawful and good [2]” is better, if remaining in godly fear.
Therefore, Allah closes this verse by saying: “Fear God, since you believe in Him” [3].

5. Two moments
The state of presence with Allāh that you desire can not last: on the contrary, [the Way] is an instant of presence, and another instant of absence. So you must not regret or be sad if the distraction takes you, because this (regret and sadness) generates a [second distraction] in relation to the level in which Allāh attributed to you.

6. Submission

It is better to devote oneself entirely to the will of Allāh, as it is nobler to be present with the Unique who chooses [what He wants], Exalted be He.

7. Hearts

Know that hearts are in the hands of Allāh. He turns them as He wants. He directs them to the presence and the goodness if He wills. He misleads them from the good way if He wills.
“Allāh misleads who He wills, And He directs who He wills.” [4]

8. Presence

The True, Exalted be He, grants to some the level of presence with Him. We see them well anchored. No reality other than Allah is going through their minds. If the desire to get in heaven or the fear of hell crosses their minds, it is only an inspiration of the All-Merciful, required by the precepts of the Law.

9. The Guides

The Guides have an astonishing influence on the inner resources of their followers. They raise them from the baseness of sin to the greatness of submission, then to the Supreme Companion [5] and presence with the Adored, Exalted be He.

10. Perseverance

The essential thing is to persevere in love so that the end is beautiful, if Allāh wants it.
